Job Description About this job:
This position has now arisen in our North America Life Finance team that involves the delivery of meaningful financial reporting and analysis focusing on our US life reinsurer. This role will primarily involve the following duties: Prepare quarterly regulatory returns and other filings, including audited statements, and RBC metrics for PartnerRe Life Reinsurance Company of America (PLRA). Liaise with auditors to complete annual audit. Manage the regulatory relationship and oversee the statutory quinquennial regulatory audit process. Support the analysis and communication of technical and other financial results for various stakeholders including senior management and the Board. Support the preparation of US corporate tax returns. Monitor and project the capital requirements of the legal entity and affiliate retrocessionaire to ensure that regulatory and management capital requirements are maintained. Analyze the impact of emerging accounting standards on PLRA (US
GAAP, US
STAT, other accounting standards as required) Analyze the impact on processes and controls of new transactions. This may include complex structures, financial reinsurance and new lines of life business. Implement new process changes as needed to ensure appropriate controls are in place. Monitor and reconcile the PeopleSoft General Ledger and SUN sub-ledger, collaborate with other PartnerRe group reporting teams to support quarterly reporting. Liaise and collaborate with various functions (Valuation, Administration, Legal/Compliance, etc.) on operational and reporting matters. Collaborate and work with global, regional (North American Life or NAL) and local US counterparts to ensure consistency and reliability of reports and processes. Be an active member of the team preparing quarterly analysis to L&H leadership at all levels. Participate in the annual planning cycle. Perform ad hoc projects as and when required, including review of operating procedures and the analysis of accounting transactions. Maintain appropriate documentation related to new and existing processes, particularly SOX related processes. This includes process narratives and flow charts. Manage US Life Reporting and Analysis team.
Qualifications About you:
You are an experienced (10+ years of PQE) accountant with diverse financial reporting and operational finance skills. Ideally you have experience working in a global re/insurance organization and are looking to continue building on your skills in a dynamic and culturally diverse environment. You will also bring the following experience/profile: CPA Designation US Statutory and US GAAP reporting experience Working knowledge of a major general ledger system and reporting tools, such as People Soft general ledger, Sun systems general ledger, NVision reporting, and Business Object is an asset. Experience with US Corporate tax is also considered an asset. Experience managing a team, ideally across multiple locations Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel and Power Point. Exposure to complex entity structures, with multicurrency reporting, multiple entities, and multiple accounting bases for the same entity. Collaborative mindset, willing to work across various geographies and time zones. Demonstrated ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and willing to rise to new challenges. Strong interpersonal skills & effective written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated analytical, problem-identification and resolution skills with a high attention to detail.
