Cost Accountant
Our client, a well-established and growing manufacturing company, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join their finance team. The company utilizes standard costing methods and places high value on cross-functional partnerships between finance and operations teams to drive performance efficiencies. Cost Accountant Position Overview:
The Cost Accountant will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing cost data to support manufacturing operations and provide actionable insights into production efficiency, profitability, and cost management. This position works closely with operations leadership to understand cost drivers, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
Manage the standard costing system, including setup, updates, and variance analysis.
Analyze production costs, material usage, overhead allocation, labor rates, and variances to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational goals.
Support inventory costing and valuation by reconciling standard costs to actual results.
Business Partnering with
Operations:
Partner closely with manufacturing leaders to understand production processes and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Provide financial guidance to operations teams regarding cost improvement initiatives and operational efficiency projects.
Participate in cross-departmental meetings to ensure alignment between finance and operations strategies.
Reporting & Forecasting:
Prepare accurate and actionable reports on production costs, variances, and KPIs for senior management.
Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by analyzing costs and performance metrics.
Develop custom reports and dashboards using ERP systems and data visualization tools to enhance decision-making.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies related to cost accounting and inventory management.
Identify areas for process improvement and contribute to the implementation of best practices to optimize cost accounting procedures.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA/CMA preferred.
Experience:
3+ years of experience in cost accounting, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Hands-on experience with standard costing methods is preferred
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms) and advanced Excel skills. Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) is a plus.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and an inherent curiosity to understand the drivers behind financial results. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making processes.
