Full-Time Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Property Accountant based in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing property-level accounting processes and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and review the monthly close process conducted by outsourced property accounting teams. Review and analyze property-level financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and general ledger activity. Investigate variances, analyze financial trends, and present findings and recommendations to leadership. Collaborate with on-site property management teams to ensure operational activity is accurately captured and reflected in financial statements. Prepare and/or review monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages in line with stakeholder requirements. Support property-level accounting functions, including revenue recognition, expense tracking, distributions, acquisitions, and dispositions. Facilitate recurring financial training for on-site staff to enhance reporting accuracy and financial literacy. Work closely with internal teams to deliver timely and accurate financial data. Assist with external audits and tax engagements by preparing schedules and coordinating documentation.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 3-5 years of accounting experience, ideally with a focus on real estate or property accounting. Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems. Experience with Yardi is required. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
