In our continued mission to deliver the best value, experience and opportunity for our communities, stakeholders and partners using customer insights and experience, we are seeking a Lease Accountant who will play a key role in managing all phases of lease accounting, including maintaining all tenant lease information and billing for all aspects of lease documents. This position will collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and external partners to ensure accuracy, compliance, and completeness. This position will report to the Lease Accounting Manager with geographic flexibility to work remotely offered by Tanger’s hub-and-spoke approach to a modern Teams-driven workplace. About the
Role:
As the Lease Accountant you will be responsible for reviewing all phases of lease accounting in relation to occupancy, sales reporting, and management of revenue-generating documentation within the department. You will ensure accuracy and completeness of lease data across the organization and abide by internal and external audit rules to ensure leave compliance.

Ensure timely and accurate setup and processing of all billings and sales information, including recoveries (Utilities, CAM, TAX, Water, Insurance), percentage rent and FASB set up. Post billing adjustments in accordance with defined company policy. Prepare monthly sales analysis reports, calculate estimated sales and review reasonability of reported sales. Demonstrate a proactive understanding of cross-functional priorities by anticipating dependencies, collaborating across teams, and offering insights that support broader business and operational goals. Analyze problematic lease language and escalate when necessary. Coordinate the execution of various tasks including the processing of tenant billings, miscellaneous rent roll changes, unit square footage changes, lease renewals, move-ins, move-outs, and terminations. Ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual Lease Accounting deadlines are met and that all reports are accurate and delivered on time. Approve the abstraction of legal clauses completed by 3rd party abstraction team to ensure key terms are accurately captured in compliance with organizational standards. Timely resolution of issues concerning invoiced amounts, tenant disputes/audits, and lease provisions. Keep all schedules updated as they relate to document review, sales review and billing. Timely data entry into all systems and trackers, including MRI, Salesforce and other systems. Maintain up-to-date process documentation. Ensure that monthly, quarterly, and annual Lease Accounting deadlines are met and that all reports are accurate and delivered on time. Timely and accurate setup and processing of all legal documents (i.e., leases, license agreements, modifications, renewals) based on department guidelines and in accordance with SOX, including abstraction, review, interpretation, input, and analysis of the information into MRI or other systems and tools. Oversee percentage rent, overage rent, and gross sales entry process, including review of non-standard setup and completion of monthly billing. Responsible for preparing, completing and billing annual operating expense reconciliations. Analyze the year over year changes in recovery year end reconciliation and provide analysis to all relevant stakeholders.
About You:
BS or BA degree from accredited college or university and 2+ years’ experience in Lease Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. You have experience in MRI or compatible software. You are highly organized, concise, detailed, flexible, and efficient with the ability to multi-task. You can focus on results and desired outcomes and how to achieve them. You have a high level of initiative and follow through. You can maintain confidentiality and act with personal, professional, and behavioral integrity. You can read, write, and comprehend the English language. Hiring Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Tanger’s total compensation package for employees.
