Job Description

Position Overview:

The Senior Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. The Senior Accountant will play an important role in providing financial guidance and support to the success of our company. Our Senior Accountant will closely monitor our financial performance and understand key financial drivers. This individual will also be involved in the day-to-day financial operations, working closely with our CFO, and have oversight of Accounts Payable staff.

Senior Accountant Duties:

Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. Maintains the general ledger and performs monthly accruals. Performs general job profitability accounting and analyzes gross margin performance. Review spending against budget with Divisions. Oversees vendor and customer accounts, reconciles accounts, and assists in closing the monthly books. Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, addresses inquiries from banks, and manages personnel responsible for cash application of customer deposits. Oversees accounts receivable management. Manages accounts payable staff and ensures payments are timely and accurately made. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit to a successful conclusion. Files required tax forms and business licenses with federal, state, and local government agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned. Senior Accountant Skills Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and job cost accounting. Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles and the firm’s accounting policy and procedures. Proven knowledge of Balance Sheet reviews, financial reporting, and Gross Margin Analysis experience. Highly proficient with accounting software (QuickBooks Enterprise experience preferred) Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Exceptional time management skills Understanding of construction accounting Position Requirements Strong work ethic Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related discipline required. Three Plus years of general ledger accounting experience Three to five years of accounting experience required.
