Job Description
Senior Investment Accountant Our client is seeking a Senior Investment Accountant with a strong background in financial services. This individual will be responsible for managing and executing complex accounting functions related to investment portfolios. The role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering strategic insights to support informed investment decisions. This position typically serves asset management firms, insurance companies, pension funds, or other financial institutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and monitor all investment transactions including equities, fixed income, derivatives, and alternative assets. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual investment reports. Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and other relevant accounting standards. Reconcile investment accounts and resolve discrepancies with custodians and fund managers. Analyze investment performance and variances, providing insights to senior management. Prepare and file regulatory reports (e.g., NAIC, SEC, IRS). Monitor changes in investment accounting regulations and implement necessary updates. Calculate investment-related tax obligations and assist in tax reporting. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with IT and finance teams to automate reporting and reconciliation processes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CFA preferred). 5+ years in investment accounting or financial reporting, preferably in a senior or supervisory role. Strong knowledge of investment products and accounting principles. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Clearwater Analytics). Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
