Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is a long-term contract position with a hybrid work arrangement, requiring occasional in-office presence. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes and systems, and a strong ability to work independently while ensuring accuracy in financial operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes with precision and timeliness.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial records.
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Carry out month-end close procedures to finalize financial reports.
- Utilize advanced Excel functions, such as formulas and lookups, to streamline data management and reporting.
- Set up and maintain automated spreadsheets to improve efficiency in accounting tasks.
- Handle government accounting requirements, including compliance with state regulations.
- Collaborate on budget preparation and reconciliation activities to support organizational financial planning.
- Work with QuickBooks Online to manage day-to-day accounting operations.
- Assist in fiscal year-end processes and reporting requirements. Requirements
- Proven experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create formulas, perform lookups, and automate processes.
- Strong understanding of journal entries and month-end close procedures.
- Familiarity with government accounting practices and state-level compliance.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing remote and in-office responsibilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
