Job Description

Project Accountant
A rapidly growing construction company based in Concord, NC is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join its team. Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of Accounts Payable, managing 400+ invoices per month
Review and approve purchase orders, vendor invoices, and pay applications
Set up new vendors; maintain and update W-9s and insurance certificates
Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure accurate job costing and timely approvals
Monitor billing inbox daily and respond within 48 hours
Assist with month-end close by reviewing bank reconciliations and verifying postings (no manual journal entries)
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., Davis Bacon, sales tax)
Reconcile AP accounts and address any variances
Support additional administrative and office management tasks as needed

Must-Haves:

Strong job costing experience (this is the top priority)
Experience working closely with Project Managers
Takes initiative and consistently goes above and beyond
Familiarity with ERP systems (Sage 300 and Procore are preferred, but not required)
High-volume AP processing experience (400+ invoices/month)
Ability to identify and improve accounting processes and workflows

Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of AIA billing, lien waivers, and contract review
Understanding of multi-state sales & use tax regulations
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Exposure to construction accounting software (Sage 300, Procore, Bluebeam)
