???? About the Role
Community Access Unlimited (CAU) is seeking a detail-driven and organized Real Estate Accountant to support the financial operations of our housing and property portfolio. In this role, you’ll coordinate key accounting functions, ensure compliance with housing regulations, and maintain accurate financial reporting for our real estate entities.
You’ll work closely with the Senior Accountant, CFO, and funding agencies to support timely audits, reports, and compliance filings—keeping our housing programs financially sound and audit-ready.
???? What You’ll Do
Prepare accurate financial statements and general ledger analysis for assigned properties
Create timely management reports and track key financial data
Ensure full compliance with Section 8 Housing, LIHTC, and other subsidy programs
Maintain organized real estate files and property compliance records
Support real estate compliance audits and government inspections
Prepare and submit quarterly/annual tax filings and audit reports
Coordinate with NJHMFA, banks, LIHTC, and other funding sources
Assist in preparation of annual audits and financial statement reporting
Participate in monthly housing meetings and maintain accurate documentation
Monitor internal controls and contribute to special accounting projects

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent education/work experience
Knowledge of real estate finance and compliance, including LIHTC and Section 8
Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Willingness to work additional hours during reporting and audit periods
