Full Job Description Position Summary:

We’re partnered with one of the most highly regarded higher education institutions in the Buffalo area, and they’re looking for a Junior Accountant to join their team! This role will report to the Associate Controller and play a key part in supporting the operations of Controller’s Office.

Responsibilities:

Oversee and support the accounts payable process, including assisting with year-end close activities. Provide backup support for payroll processing. Handle a range of general accounting duties such as preparing journal entries, intercompany transactions, account reconciliations, and accruals. Prepare and schedule uploads of automated journal entries and other accounting records related to programs and projects. Review payment processes and 1099-related transactions to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Record, examine, and analyze financial documents and reports; support the monthly and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and general ledger review. Recommend improvements to accounting procedures and assist in resolving financial discrepancies; audit transactions for accuracy and compliance with standards. Maintain accurate records of the Fixed Asset ledger. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelors in Accounting or Finance strongly preferred; Associates required Experience with payroll processing Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Ability to learn new technologies with ease Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
