Staff Accountant Position Available In Erie, New York

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Buffalo, New York. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and have experience in month-end close processes, journal entries, and financial reconciliations.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including maintaining reconciliation workbooks, updating fixed asset systems, and ensuring compliance with controls.
• Analyze and review percent-of-complete revenue recognition and perform variance analyses to identify trends or discrepancies.
• Develop and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation during the monthly close process.
• Provide clear explanations for financial fluctuations and communicate findings to management and relevant personnel.
• Identify risks and potential negative financial impacts, and assist in preparing resolutions and reports.
• Collaborate with accounting teams and other departments to address and resolve accounting-related issues.
• Support AP/AR invoicing procedures and assist with weekly payment runs when available.
• Offer assistance to internal auditors as needed to facilitate audit processes.
• Ensure adherence to internal policies, standards, and procedures while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the accounting and finance functions. Requirements
• Proficiency in bank reconciliations and general ledger management.
• Experience with journal entries and month-end close processes.
• Strong knowledge of variance analysis and financial reporting.
• Familiarity with Hyperion Financial Management or similar systems.
• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to explain financial results and collaborate with teams.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
