Job Description
Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in Garden City, New York. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the accounting team on key financial operations and ensure accuracy in reporting and compliance. This position offers the opportunity to work in the dynamic non-profit sector.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee banking activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Review and post journal entries, maintaining the integrity of financial records.
- Monitor credit card transactions and funding allocations to ensure proper documentation.
- Support full-cycle payroll processes, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Handle accounts receivable and accounts payable functions with attention to detail.
- Perform account reconciliations, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Assist in month-end close activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
- Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring proper categorization of transactions.
- Apply accrual accounting principles to accurately reflect financial performance.
- Utilize tools such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs in Microsoft Excel to analyze data effectively.

- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience in a relevant role.
- Strong understanding of government accounting and treasury operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
- Experience with Tyler Technologies Munis is preferred.
- Knowledge of full accounting cycles, including month-end close and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with accrual accounting and general ledger maintenance.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
