$37-$44/hr Downtown NFP is seeking a detailed-oriented professional to take on the role of Grant Accountant. The ideal candidate focuses on details, thrives on collaboration, and welcomes innovation. This individual will be responsible for the Revenue/Grant Accounting and will assist with the Budget and Reporting process.
Principal Responsibilities:
Review all grant agreements to determine how the revenue is to be recorded. Create unique classifications in the general ledger system to account for grant revenue and expenses. Prepare monthly journal entries to accrue grant revenue and expenses as well as to record expense allocations. Oversee preparation of billings to variety of NY state funders Assist with the review of invoices as part of the accounts payable process. Assist in audit prep Review the revenue and expense report as part of the monthly close process to determine month-end accrual entries and net assets released from restriction. Assist Director, Budgets and Grants Management in the preparation of annual budget as needed. Assist the Controller with the preparation of the monthly fringe benefits and occupancy allocations. Analyze the actual revenue and expenses incurred versus the budget for the period. Maintain database of administrative contracts. This includes running queries, reports, and inputting data. Additional responsibilities as required.
Skills and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting (required). 3+ years of grant accounting experience; familiarity with NYC and NYS funder requirements (preferred) Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (required) Must be competent in Excel; Quantitative and Analytic skills are imperative. Must possess critical thinking skills. Must be able to understand the financial impact of budgets and contracts throughout the agency. Addison Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
