Junior Accountant About IGI:

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is the world’s largest independent gemological laboratory and a trusted name in the global gem and jewelry industry. We provide independent grading reports for diamonds, colored gemstones, and jewelry, along with comprehensive gemological education. Position Summary:

IGI is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our finance team. This entry-level position will provide essential support to our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with a strong understanding of accounting principles and a desire to grow their career within a dynamic, international organization.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Data Entry and Maintenance:

Accurately enter and update financial transactions into accounting software and databases, ensuring precision and adherence to established timelines. This includes invoices, expenses, payments, and other financial data.

Reconciliations:

Assist with bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, and other balance sheet accounts, identifying and resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.

Accounts Payable/Receivable Support:

Process invoices, expense reports, and payment transactions. Assist with accounts receivable tasks, including invoicing and tracking payments.

Report Preparation:

Support the preparation of various financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, to aid in financial analysis and decision-making.

Record Keeping:

Maintain organized and comprehensive filing systems for all financial documents, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Assistance with

Audits:

Support the finance team during internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.

Compliance:

Ensure all financial transactions and processes adhere to relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP), company policies, and tax regulations.

Ad-hoc Tasks:

Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned by senior accountants or the finance manager to contribute to the overall efficiency of the department.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strong understanding of basic accounting principles. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.). Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Etc.) is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data entry and financial reporting. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality. A genuine interest in the gem and jewelry industry is a plus, but not required.
