Job Description Are you looking for your next opportunity? Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our Technical Accounting team. As a Senior Accountant, you will lead key aspects of the monthly and quarterly close, support ad hoc projects, and ensure financial accuracy. You’ll help strengthen internal processes and support cross-functional initiatives.

Our business, your impact, our opportunity: What you’ll be doing: Prepare and post journal entries across multiple entities, including cash, accruals, premiums, losses, and acquisition costs Complete monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses Perform intercompany reconciliations and settlements, and identify opportunities for process improvement Analyze financial fluctuations and investigate variances across entities Reconcile system interfaces and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner Drive automation efforts and implement improvements in reporting and close processes Collaborate with teams across Accounts Payable, FP&A, Financial Accounting, Business Services, and Reserving Support projects, system integrations, and audit activities Prepare supporting schedules, supplemental reports, and maintain controls documentation Document accounting policies and KPIs, and engage key stakeholders to support change initiatives What you’ll bring: 7+ years of experience in corporate accounting within a large corporate environment Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or MIS; CPA, MBA, or Master’s preferred Strong understanding of IFRS and US GAAP Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing large data sets Familiarity with SAP General Ledger Accounting System and reconciliation/journal tools such as BlackLine preferred Insurance or reinsurance industry experience a plus Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment Analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements Willingness to learn new technologies such as SQL, Python, VBA, low-code, and AI Ability to build effective relationships and collaborate across all levels, both locally and remotely (US, Bermuda, and UK)
Salary Range:
$80,000 – $130,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
