JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for basic governmental accounting duties and problem-solving skills.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS

Knowledge of fund accounting, general ledger, A/R, A/P and general accounting principles. Payroll experience preferred. A working knowledge of Microsoft programs and computer proficiency. Detail orientated, accurate and works well in a team environment.

JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare weekly accounts payable payments and reconciliations
Prepare bi-weekly payroll and maintenance
Prepare and input journal entries
Prepare Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
Prepare General Ledger account reconciliations Assist in quarterly report preparation
Input General Ledger maintenance
Adhoc reports as needed
Input fixed asset maintenance and reporting
Perform other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the ability to record, convey, and present information, explain procedures, and follow instructions
Must be able to sit for long periods of time with frequent periods of standing, walking, and occasional twisting, reaching, pulling, and pushing required for obtaining files, doing inspections or other job duties
Sedentary work with occasional lifting, 15-20 pounds
Must be able to pay close attention to detail and concentrate on work

REQUIRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and

ABILITIES

Understanding of accounting principles (government accounting preferred) Familiar with automated accounting systems
Knowledge in Microsoft excel spreadsheets MINIMUM EXPERIENCE and

TRAINING

Associate’s degree in accounting required
2-4 years of experience in accounting preferred
