Job Description
Description We are looking for a skilled Payroll Accountant to join our client in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This contract to permanent position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who excels in managing payroll processes, benefits reconciliation, and contract-related financial tasks. The role involves close collaboration with supervisors, employees, and payroll providers to ensure accuracy and efficiency in payroll operations.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with payroll providers to process bi-weekly payroll and manage retirement fund contributions accurately and on time.
- Address employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and account setups, while maintaining updated and accurate records.
- Prepare detailed payroll and tax reports for audits, journal entries, pension plans, and other financial requirements.
- Monitor and reconcile payroll-related benefits, including vacation balances, sick leave, and payroll deductions.
- Calculate and process wage adjustments such as retroactive pay and paid time off payouts, ensuring timely documentation.
- Manage payroll funding and allocation by transferring necessary resources to cover payroll, benefits, and taxes.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies by analyzing policies, contracts, and past practices.
- Track and oversee costs and reporting for capital and service contracts, ensuring efficient management.
- Provide backup support for Accounts Payable tasks, assisting with payment and invoice processing during peak periods. Requirements
- Proven experience in full-cycle payroll processing, including multi-state payroll.
Union payroll experience
STRONGLY
preferred.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax reporting and related compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with benefits reconciliation and managing payroll-related deductions.
- Ability to perform detailed calculations for wage adjustments and retroactive pay.
- Excellent problem-solving skills for addressing payroll discrepancies and employee concerns.
- Proficiency in generating financial reports and maintaining accurate records.
- Experience with contract management and tracking associated costs.
