This position supports our workers’ compensation line of business, Eastern Alliance, and is hybrid, reporting to the Lancaster PA office 3 days per week. This position also reports daily to the office the first 2 weeks of each quarter. The Staff Accountant II will be primarily responsible for applicable general ledger (i.e., GAAP, STAT, or Budget) accounts including basic and routine transactions and reconciliations. The position will work with their supervisor/manager to gain an understanding of the impact on the financial statements of assigned accounts and journal entries. The Staff Accountant II will understand and perform internal controls in compliance with established policies and procedures and maintain an understanding of GAAP and STAT that is applicable to assigned areas. What you’ll do:

GAAP and STAT Accounting and Reporting:

Responsible for all assigned applicable general ledger accounts including basic and routine transactions, reconciliations, and account maintenance. Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation. Understands and analyzes Actual and Budget data in appropriate context. Prepares or assists with preparation of a variety of financial reports or portions of financial reports on assigned basis of accounting or audience (GAAP, STAT, Management/Budget). Understands assigned accounts and General Ledger database structure. Can extract/report General Ledger data for assigned areas and write financial reports. Assists in the preparation of financial reports and analyses related to the Inova captive programs. Prepares quarterly and annual state assessment and regulatory filings. Performs the monthly deductible billing process, including preparation of customer invoices. Responsible for performance and documentation of accounting policies and procedures for assigned areas. Assists internal and external auditors, state examiners, and taxing authorities, as applicable, by providing appropriate documentation and support when requested. Participates in the execution of special projects as directed. Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. What we’re looking for: B.S. degree (accounting or finance) from an accredited institution required. Three years of accounting experience, insurance experience preferred. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word required. Experience with database General Ledger software required. Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills required. Analytical skills, problem resolution, and math skills required. Position Salary Range $56,446.00 – $93,145.00 The salary range displayed represents the entirety of the pay grade for this position. Most candidates will start in the bottom half of the range.
