Job Description:

This position will work specifically withthe Alternative Investment Services (AIS) Team in support ofInvestment Teams within Brokerage Investment Management (MSIM). TheAIS Team currently supports 300 investment vehicles that utilize avariety of alternative investment strategies and vehicle structureswith total net assets under management around 46 billion. Theindividual in this position will be responsible primarily foroperations and portfolio management support activities for theHedge Fund Solutions (HFS) funds and separately managed accounts.

Responsibilities in this position will result in detailed knowledgeof accounting and operations for the HFS portfolios, includinginvestments in hedge funds, private equity funds andco-investments, more liquid daily-traded fund investments andsecurities, and derivative investments, such as total return swapsand forward currency contracts. This position will also result indetailed knowledge of accounting for hybrid fund structures thatcombine hedge fund investing with private equity investor capitalactivity and fee structures. This position will also involvedeveloping and maintaining external relationships with businessstakeholders and third-party service providers to ensure propersupport for the investment vehicles. Responsibilities Activelymonitoring critical investment and investor activity for multipleportfolios and custodian banks, ensuring proper settlement oftransactions, including cash distributions and receipts. Developingsignificant level of expertise of the holdings, terms andtransactions of multiple portfolios to provide intuitive andproactive oversight of these portfolios. Overseeing third partyservice providers in posting activity to the portfolios’ generalledger and maintaining portfolio activity in AIS’s parallelportfolio accounting system, Investran. Reconciling transactions,valuations, management fees, performance fee/carried interestcalculations, P&L components, and other activity betweenInvestran and the third party service provider’s records on amonthly/quarterly basis to ensure accuracy. Verifying accuracy ofinvestor capital account balances, NAV allocations, and capitalactivity on a monthly/quarterly basis. Preparing or reviewingmonthly performance reports for investment management and clientsusing valuations from underlying investments, cash balances, andderivatives valuations. Reviewing daily cash reconciliationsperformed with multiple custodian banks and ensuring outstandingitems are resolved on a timely basis. Tracking email correspondencewithin the AIS Team’s group mailbox and escalating time sensitivecorrespondence to the appropriate internal parties. Providingregular daily support and responding to numerous ad hoc requestsfrom investment management, investors, and other internal andexternal stakeholders. Providing support for the AIS Team’sproduct, regulatory, and other audits; assisting with preparationof materials for periodic board of director meetings; assistingwith review of offering documents for new products and supportingother areas of product development, as needed. Working effectivelywith third party service providers and internal parties to ensure ahigh level of service for the AIS Team’s products; raising serviceissues in an appropriate manner and following up issues toresolution; creating or enhancing processes to improve theefficiency of the AIS Team. Performing other related functions orresponsibilities as needed or assigned. Qualifications Bachelorsdegree, or equivalent, in Accounting, Finance, or related businessfield is preferred A minimum of three to five years of investmentaccounting experience Prior experience in alternative investmentoperations is preferred but not required; knowledge of hedge fundor private equity fund accounting, or experience with Investran, isa plus. Strong organizational and analytical skills and the abilityto effectively summarize findings, both verbally and in writing, ina clear and concise manner Detail-oriented and highly motivatedAbility to work effectively with minimal supervision
