The purpose of the Sr. Staff Accountant, position is to effectively manage and perform the accounting functions within the Environmental Services department while working as an extension of the Finance department.
A Typical Day:
Accounts Payable:
Manage coding, entry, and vendor reconciliation.
Project Costs:
Track and close out fixed asset accounts.
Reporting:
Analyze overtime and operations overages; provide reports.
Fixed Assets:
Investigate obsolescence; assist with audits.
Financial Tasks:
Assign project numbers, reconcile statements, process journal entries, and maintain billings.
Additional Duties:
Conduct analyses, track expenditures, establish control procedures, and maintain a courteous demeanor.
Requirements
What We Need In A Candidate:
Minimum of Associates degree in Accounting or 4 – 5 years of related experience.
Experience working with South Carolina state sales tax required.
Prior accounting experience in construction or project management preferred, but not required.
Solid knowledge of budget preparation and review procedures.
Excellent math skills, including extensive experience with accounting balancing.
Strong, working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
