Staff Accountant Position Available In Berkeley, South Carolina

Description We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant to join our team in the Government industry, located in Charleston, South Carolina. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for overseeing a team of clerks and will be primarily involved in general ledger work.

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the work of accounting clerks
• Performing general ledger tasks routinely
• Assisting with bank reconciliations as needed
• Processing journal entries and month-end close procedures
• Managing both Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Applying knowledge of governmental accounting procedures Requirements
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Proven experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management is essential.
• Demonstrable skills in executing Bank Reconciliations are required.
• Proficiency in maintaining and updating the General Ledger is mandatory.
• Experience in preparing and recording Journal Entries is a must.
• Should have the ability to manage Month End Close processes efficiently.
• Prior experience in Governmental Accounting is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical and numerical skills will be advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Knowledge and understanding of the latest accounting principles and regulations is necessary.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion is required.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite is mandatory.
• Should be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure is a must.
