Accountant-Accounts Payable Assistant (25-32)

Stokes Administration Building Francis Marion University invites applications for an Accountant-Accounts Payable Assistant who, under limited direction, is responsible for processing University disbursements. Assists with multi-accounting functions and performs related duties. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Analyzes all disbursement requests for appropriate approvals, documentation and coding.
Supervises the verification of disbursement requests not channeled through Purchasing, such as construction payments, utility invoices and certain other direct payment requests.
Reviews and approves Travel Reimbursement Requests.
Keys and maintains direct deposit information for payees.
Procures departmental supplies and maintains stockroom inventory.
Reviews unpaid purchase orders and contacts vendors for invoices when necessary.
State Requirements:
A high school diploma and related financial experience. A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses may be substituted for the required work experience.
FMU Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting preferred with nine (9) semester hours in accounting related courses. State regulations can be learned on the job. Working knowledge of standard office equipment and excel.
