Job Description
Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in West Columbia, South Carolina. This is a Contract-to-permanent position within the construction industry, offering the opportunity to grow professionally while contributing to essential accounting operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to improving processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Support audit preparation by gathering required documentation and assisting with inquiries.
- Perform bank reconciliations to ensure consistency between internal records and financial institutions.
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes to maintain smooth cash flow operations.
- Analyze financial data and provide insights to improve accounting practices and business processes.
- Utilize accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP to manage financial records.
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities for efficiency and implement improvements.
- Maintain a positive and proactive approach to problem-solving and workflow enhancements. Requirements
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Proficiency in accounting software, including NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, or SAP.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Experience with month-end close processes and journal entries.
- Ability to perform accurate bank reconciliations and ensure financial data integrity.
- Comfortable working with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Prior experience in the construction or flooring industry is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and a proactive attitude toward process improvement.
