out of 5 stars Orangeburg County, SC The purpose of this job is to assist the Chief Financial Officer and the Finance Services Divisional Director in maintaining an efficient and smooth flow of business in the County’s Finance Department, generally including maintenance and analysis of information in the County’s Enterprise Reporting System (“ERP”), proposing correcting journal entries or other actions as deemed appropriate, preparation of various reports & uploading them into databases when necessary, communication & coordination with other County departments, performing account reconciliations of all types of accounts, assisting other finance department staff with bookkeeping, financial reporting, and transaction processing, and providing assistance with various periodic financial reporting and the annual budgeting process. This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary. ERP account analysis and reconciliation for all county funds and accounts. The reconciliation process involves comparing two or more data sets, identifying the differences between the data sets and determining the correct handling of the differences. Assist in, or perform the monthly and annual closing of periods in the ERP and related submodules such as projects and grants as applicable. Creates, analyzes, and corrects data for upload to the County’s General Ledger. Assists in the preparation of the County’s Annual Financial Statements and related audit workpapers. Assists in the preparation of routine internal financial reports. Assists with the review of various transaction batches in the ERP workflow. Assists with identifying opportunities for improving the ERP. Summarize and upload custodial bank accounts transactions for the Family Court, Probate, Clerk of Court, Detention Center, Delinquent Tax, Magistrates and Master in Equity. Perform other duties and related work as instructed and assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelors Degree in, Accounting, Business or Public Administration, Management or similar major, or an Associate’s Degree in, Accounting or Business and four (4) years equivalent, relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Software Proficiency:
MS Office Suite, especially Excel, Word & Power Point; Tyler Technologies Munis preferred, or other similar Enterprise Resource Planning systems
