The South Carolina Department of Public Health (SC DPH) is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Accountant to join our team. This position will support non-EHR financial operations within the Accounts Receivable (AR) section. This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical accounting functions, including payment processing, reconciliation, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial transactions, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to payment systems.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to:
Process checks, credit card payments, and ACH transactions across multiple accounting systems.
Perform daily reconciliation of deposits and transactions to ensure accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and maintain supporting documentation.
Manage daily desktop deposits through the Wells Fargo Deposit System, including operating and maintaining the check scanner.
Troubleshoot upload issues, coordinate with the bank to resolve technical matters, and apply necessary updates to the desktop system.
Provide backup support to the AR Section Lead and team members during high-volume periods or staff absences.
Execute additional technical and administrative duties as needed to support AR operations.
Perform additional technical and administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and two (2) years of professional experience in a related area such as accounting, auditing, finance, or banking.
OR
A Bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses that may be substituted for the required work experience. Preferred Qualifications
A good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
