Job Summary:

We are seeking a full time dedicated and experienced Church Accountant to be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the church, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all financial transactions, maintaining proper records, and supporting the church’s financial stewardship through budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Tithes & Offerings Count, verify, and record all weekly tithes, offerings, and other contributions. Prepare and make bank deposits in a timely and secure manner. Post contributions to donor records and church accounting system. Accounts Payable & Receivable Process all accounts payable: receive, verify, and pay vendor invoices in a timely manner. Issue checks or ACH payments for approved expenses. Track and manage all accounts receivable, including rental income, event fees, or other church-related revenue. Maintain accurate records for all financial transactions. Financial Reporting Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Reconcile all bank accounts and credit card statements. Maintain and organize financial records for audits and historical tracking. Budgeting & Forecasting Assist church leadership in the annual budgeting process. Monitor actual income and expenses versus budget, providing variance reports. Offer financial forecasting and strategic recommendations to support church operations and ministry goals. Tax & Regulatory Compliance Prepare and file necessary tax documents, including 1099s and other IRS filings. Ensure compliance with all state and federal financial regulations for non-profit and religious organizations. Support annual audit or financial review processes.

Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or church setting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ACS, Aplos, or similar). Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and bookkeeping. High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Familiarity with church culture and financial stewardship practices.

Working Conditions:

Primarily on-site Fast-paced, dynamic environment, particularly on weekends. Sunday – Thursday 9am – 4pm and additional hours as needed
