POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Accounting Supervisor, the General Accountant will be responsible for daily entry of general ledger activity, prepare and manage reconciliations, and assist with accounts payable and the month-end close process to support financial reporting and the Accounting Department. Responsibilities will include general ledger account reconciliations, account analysis, report creation, transaction data entry, and managing assigned processes. Will assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and any other required reporting from internal/external sources. The General Accountant will manage business transactions, including preparation of journal entries.

PRIMARY ACCOUNT ABILITIES

Record daily banking transactions and prepare daily/monthly bank reconciliations. Assist with the accounts payable function to ensure accurate accounting records. Prepare and maintain account roll-forwards and account analysis spreadsheets. Maintain all aspects of assigned processes, including the subledger and administrative requirements. Assist with preparation of documentation requests for external auditors. Assemble documents required for monthly Internal Compliance Audit requests. Collaborate with other company personnel to assist with processing financial transactions. Assist in preparation of financial statements as needed. Assist with year-end Pharmacy inventory as needed. Assist with preparation of the annual audits, annual cost reports and IRS form 990 Participate in management team activities, i.e. training, meetings, etc. Provide aid and support to company personnel as needed. Special projects, as assigned. Operational Excellence Ensure and uphold the confidentially requirements of all patient records and manage all daily task and activities consistent with HIPAA, state and federal laws and regulations, as well as the organization’s policies and regulations regarding confidentiality and security. Relationships Develop and ensure effective, positive relationships within and among the clinic staff, as well as with patients, vendors, contractors, and related resources. Professionalism Ensure all actions, job performance, personal conduct and communications represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times. Uphold and ensure compliance with and attention to all corporate policies and procedures, as well as the mission and values of the organization.

PRIMARY TASKS & DUTIES

Prepare journal entries and post transactions to proper accounts. Reconciliation of Balance Sheet Accounts and documentation to support balances. Prepare monthly and daily bank account reconciliations. General Ledger account analysis and reconciliation. Accounts payable and credit card activity transaction entry and reconciliation. Reconciliation of fixed assets. Additions or disposals of assets recorded properly. Verify Depreciation and Accumulated Depreciation reconciles and is recorded properly each month. Prepare any supporting documentation needed for cost reports, annual audit, and retirement plan end of year required census information Ensure that all reporting requirements are submitted by the requested dates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES

Function in a multi-tasking, multiple priorities environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Communicate with a diverse employee population. Will be required to successfully manage multiple personality types in often stressful or conflicting situations. Utilize a wide variety of office technology and tools to collect, enter, process, file patient records and documentation. Must be able to function in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. A combination of experience and education may be used to satisfy the requirements for this position. Professional Three to five years prior experience in the accounting/financial reporting areas. Prior experience working in healthcare preferred. Experience working in a nonprofit organization preferred, but not required. Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Ability to be an effective team player and display initiative. Strong computer skills and proficiency with spreadsheet and accounting software such as MS Word, Excel, Blackbaud and QuickBooks are essential. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful but not required Physical/Environmental Ability to interact with computer screen for up to six hours at a time (visual acuity required). Must have manual dexterity for use of keyboard. Ability to remain stationary for periods of up to four hours. Ability to communicate via phone, mail and in person to resolve disputes, solve problems, etc. Capacity to function in a sometimes stressful, multi-tasking environment
