Real Estate Accountant:

A Montana-based real estate developer and investor is seeking a Real Estate Portfolio Accountant to join their team. This is a pivotal role where you’ll work closely with the Controller, supporting all aspects of accounting for current construction projects and future acquisitions and developments. The company is small but rapidly growing, offering direct access to senior leadership and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the organization’s success. You’ll receive exceptional mentorship from a Controller with a stellar background in construction accounting. She’s eager to train the right person and is looking for someone with a ‘can-do’ attitude-ready to tackle everything from AP/AR transactions to high-level acquisition accounting with the same level of enthusiasm and dedication. While this role is fully remote, there is a preference for candidates located in the Chicago or Nashville areas.

What You’ll Actually Do:

Play a key role in accounting operations, handling AP/AR, month-end close, reconciliations, and more Create and deliver financial statements, including the Balance Sheet, Income Statement, and Cash Flow reports Analyze project budgets, track spending, and provide P&L variance insights to keep leadership informed Prepare and manage construction draw packages, ensuring accurate documentation and compliance Monitor and report on project costs, comparing actuals to budgets to drive smarter decision-making Support audits and collaborate with external CPA firms when needed To Be Successful in

This Role, You Will Need:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 2-3 years of experience Proficiency in Excel Experience in construction or project-based accounting is preferred Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar ERP systems (e.g., Yardi, Sage Intacct, MRI) Proactive mindset with a willingness to take initiative and tackle challenges Enthusiastic about learning and professional growth

Target Compensation $75-85K plus discretionary bonus 100% remote with some travel required Full Health insurance coverage and Generous PTO
