We are seeking an exceptional Senior Accountant with strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, and advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency to join our accounting team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records while supporting internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic trucking environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-driven, and able to build strong cross-functional relationships across various departments including but not limited to Operations, Service, Parts, Marketing.

Role Overview:

As the Senior Accountant, you will be an important and trusted partner. Your ability to think critically, manage competing priorities, and maintain a high level of professionalism and discretion is paramount to the success of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain general ledger and reconcile key balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with
U.S. GAAP
  • Assist in other daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting requirements through the use of advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, Power Query, macros, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH)
  • Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and intercompany transactions
  • Monitor and report on cost variances such as fixed, semi-fixed, selling variable and personnel
  • Collaborate with accounting and operations teams to analyze drivers to change over various periods and metrics.
  • Ensure proper accounting for capital expenditures, fixed assets, lease agreements, prepaid and accrued expenses, intercompany transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations
  • Implement process improvements and drive automation in accounting workflows
  • Mentor junior staff and support cross-functional projects as needed
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years minimum of accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting principles
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., data modeling, dashboards, complex formulas)
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Procede, Karmak, or similar trucking-specific platforms)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills—must work well with both finance and non-finance teams
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and problem-solving ability
  • High level of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, empathy and ability to adapt to a variety of interpersonal dynamics
Resilience:

ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment, maintain composure under pressure, and adjust priorities as needed.

Preferred Experience:
  • Public accounting experience
  • Experience within the trucking, logistics, or transportation industry
  • CPA Eligible
  • Familiarity with DOT compliance, IFTA reporting, fuel tax accounting

$80,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
