Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated Corporate Tax Staff Accountant to join a thriving team in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. This is a long-term contract opportunity within the manufacturing industry, offering a chance to apply your expertise in accounting and tax-related functions. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills and a thorough understanding of sales and use tax, clearing accounts, and other core accounting tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns accurately and on time.
- Perform clearing account reconciliations to maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records.
- Calculate and process financial data related to taxes and other accounting functions.
- Enter and manage data within designated accounting software systems.
- Collaborate with the accounts payable team to ensure proper handling of tax-related transactions.
- Adjust journal entries as needed to maintain accurate financial reporting.
- Provide support for audits and other compliance-related activities as required.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and relevant regulatory requirements Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Science in Accounting
- Minimum 5-7 years of overall general accounting experience
- Experience with ERP systems
- Highly organized and self-motivated
- Demonstrated skills in interacting effectively, both verbally and in writing, with functional managers
- Demonstrated knowledge of sales and use tax
- Strong familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP)
- Comprehensive knowledge of account reconciliation
- Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
- Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
- Skillful in analytical, quantitative and social skills
