Opportunity Overview:
CBL Tax Accountants prepare federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns for each CBL entity by: Examining accounts and records and computing taxes owed according to prescribed rates, laws, and regulations.
Preparing, reviewing and maintaining tax return work papers and files
Preparing and reviewing book to tax adjustments
Ensuring compliance with periodic tax payments, information reporting, and other tax requirements
Preparing and reviewing fixed asset information
Researching federal and state tax requirements and issues
Responding to tax notices
Providing tax advice to the organization
Preparing other miscellaneous filings, reports, etc. as assigned
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Taxation or related strongly preferred. Master’s degree a plus. Equivalent combination of education + experience may be considered (1 year education = 2 years experience).
Minimum of three (3) years of Taxation experience required: Must have Partnership Taxation experience; Corporate experience a plus.
Experience in Public Accounting is a plus.
CPA or EA a plus
Important Skills:
Proven ability to apply principles of taxation to a public company with multiple entities.
Solid computer software application skills (Word, Excel).
Knowledge of Yardi Voyager commercial property management and accounting system or a similar system is a plus.
Proficiency with tax preparation software such as CCH Access is a plus.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to anticipate and effectively respond to deadlines.
Ability to work cooperatively with others.
Demonstrated commitment to objectivity, integrity, and ethical behavior a must.
