Job Description
Construction Accountant Tennessee Automatic Sprinkler, Inc. Knoxville, TN 37931 We are looking for an accounting manager for a mid-size construction firm. The accounting manager handles various construction accounting tasks, including financial reporting, accounts payable/receivable, and project cost analysis. The accounting manager completes weekly payroll, certified payroll as required, all commercial insurance audits, and other accounting-related duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Preparing and maintaining financial statements, reports, and budgets and completion of the WIP reporting working with the CPA. The accounting manager is responsible for all month-end, quarter-end and year-end responsibilities.
Accounts Payable:
Managing invoices, vendor payments, and accurate payments. Accounts Receivable Processing invoices, managing customer payments, and following up on outstanding balances. Project Cost Analysis Tracking and analyzing project costs, preparing cost analyses including WIP. Payroll Completing weekly payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculations and timely payments. Audit Completion Assisting with internal and external audits, providing documentation and support as needed. Record Keeping Maintaining accurate financial records, including journal entries, ledgers, and supporting documentation. Compliance Providing accurate and timely information to comply with regulatory requirements. Bank Reconciliations Performing bank reconciliations and other account reconciliations to ensure accuracy. Invoicing Preparing and issuing invoices to clients, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing. Other Tasks Assisting with various other accounting tasks as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
Accounting experience is required.
Skills:
Proficiency in accounting software – primarily , attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and good communication skills are essential. Excellent Microsoft Office experience is a requirement – especially Excel & Word.
Construction Accounting Knowledge:
Familiarity with construction accounting principles and practices is a plus. Proven experience in corporate accounting or a similar role. Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and general ledger functions. Proficiency in Excel; experience with Sage or similar accounting software is preferred. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to perform cash flow analysis effectively. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
