Vaco Memphis is assisting their client with their search for an Accounting Associate. This individual will be responsible for assisting with a wide range of accounting and financial reporting responsibilities, including intercompany accounting, monthly close, and variance analysis.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Participate in the month-end and year-end close process including the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations
Enter and maintain general ledger transactions with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
Assist in maintaining intercompany accounts and reconciling intercompany balances across entities
Help prepare internal financial reports, including variance analysis and supporting schedules
Compile and validate financial data used in the preparation of financial statements
Assist in the organization and review of general ledger transactions, ensuring proper coding and classification
Support the preparation of audit schedules and respond to internal or external review inquiries
Assist in maintaining and updating documentation for internal procedures and controls
Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering data and supporting financial analysis
Provide backup support to the Accounting Supervisor and the Accounting Managers for recurring tasks and reporting deliverables
Perform special projects and additional duties as developed by the Chief Accounting Officer, Accounting Managers or Accounting Supervisor
Perform other related duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; Master’s Degree preferred
1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a high-volume environment; internship experience will be considered
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and general ledger accounting principles
Strong Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with ERP systems a plus
High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset
Effective communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and grow in the accounting profession
