POSITION OVERVIEW

Under direct supervision of the Bursar performs various financial analyses and day-to-day cashiering functions for the College. The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the variety of support functions listed below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Greet customers at Cashier Window to receive, disburse and track all monetary transactions. Collects payments from students. Distributes checks to vendors. Manages the deposit process and comply with departmental policies. Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations of Title IV funds (loans, SEOG, PELL, TSAC, scholarships, etc.) Assesses charges to student accounts. Assists with the analyses and verification of student refunds and transmits to Bank Mobile. Processes daily cash and credit card journal entries. Performs routine analyses and reconciliations of student receivables. Communicates effectively with other departments to provide complete and accurate processing of student receivable data. Monitors student account balances and engages in collection efforts. Assists with the preparation of Form 1098-T for students and submit required documentation to the IRS in a timely manner. Ensures accuracy and confidentiality at all times. Performs additional duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma required Computer literacy required Strong customer service skills especially under strained conditions Ability to count and process large sums of cash and checks without error and be able to balance deposits to source documents and utilize credit card machines Availability for occasional evening and weekend work as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated skill using software such as Microsoft Office required. Experience with Great Plains and student receivables software such as PowerCampus preferred. Detail-oriented with integrity to work with confidential and sensitive information. Knowledge of mathematics and basic accounting principles. Ability to organize/prioritize a demanding workload and interact effectively with a diverse population including students, faculty, and staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle, or feel to talk and to hear. The employee, frequently, is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
