Job Description
Description We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Grant Accountant to join our team. The Grant Accountant will oversee the financial administration of grants, ensuring compliance with funding requirements and organizational policies. This detail oriented will act as a bridge between program management and finance, providing key insights and strategies to optimize grant utilization while maintaining fiscal transparency.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Financial Management:
Prepare and monitor grant budgets in collaboration with program managers to ensure financial resources align with program goals Track grant expenditures, ensuring compliance with funding regulations and organizational policies. Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions associated with grants, including income and expenses.
Compliance and Reporting:
Prepare and submit timely and accurate financial reports to grantors in compliance with funding requirements. Assist in audits by providing thorough documentation and financial records related to grants. Ensure full compliance with grant agreements, including federal, state, and local regulations.
Analysis and Process Improvement:
Perform ongoing analysis of grant spending to ensure financial efficiency and goal alignment. Support in developing procedures for streamlined tracking, management, and reporting of grant funds.
Coordination and Communication:
Collaborate with internal departments—such as finance, programs, and development teams—on grant-related financial activities. Act as a point of contact for grant-related inquiries, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and funding agencies.
Requirements Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus. A minimum of [insert experience requirement, e.g., 3-5 years] in grant accounting or fund management, preferably in a non-profit or governmental organization. Proficiency in accounting software, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting tools. Strong knowledge of GAAP and compliance regulations for grant funding. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration. Preferred Skills (Optional): Experience managing federal grants. Knowledge of ERP systems or grant management software. Proven ability to handle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.
