Tax Accountant Job Description As a Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining all business filing requirements, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, adhering to deadlines, and working on research and special projects as assigned. Responsibilities File business license applications and renewals. File property tax returns and other statutory filings for all state and local municipalities. Research and respond to tax notices and correspondence in a timely manner. Maintain business tax records and filing dates. Reconcile monthly tax ledgers and prepare appropriate journal entries. Process business license and property tax payments. Verify sales tax certificates from customers and research updates. Perform other special projects as assigned. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. Two to four years of related work experience. Experience working with PTMS and License HQ or similar tax software programs. Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent organizational skills. Keen eye for detail and accuracy. Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and deductive reasoning skills. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with Great Plains software and Blackline. Strong knowledge of tax accounting and property tax. Experience in reporting and journal entry management. Work Environment This position is onsite at the company’s headquarters, where you will work in a professional and organized setting.
