Job Description BAE Systems is seeking a Principal Accountant to join its organization.
You will report to the OSI Finance Manager and will oversee the closing and consolidation for the Holston and Radford locations.
You will manage the general ledger and associated transactions that impact the general ledger balances, oversee the correct creation of general journal entries, and posting to the general ledger.
You will provide guidance and mentoring of employees within the accounting and finance department.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the month end closing and consolidation process to ensure all deadlines are met accurately and timelyLoading consolidated financial results in HFMPerform analysis and reconciliation of general ledger activityRecords complex accounting transactions including the preparation and posting journal entriesGenerates financial accounting system reports and queriesSupports internal and external audit requirementsEvaluate, analyze, and implement changes to policies and procedures to drive efficiencies in revenue and cost reportingSupports OSI Finance in engaging with internal stakeholders to identify areas of improvement for processes or reporting and maintain strong collaborative relationshipsEnsure processes are regularly evaluated and tested through various initiatives to ensure strong internal controls are in place for the given processesRequired Education, Experience, & Skills Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting with 6+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting role or equivalent education/experienceExperience and familiarity with financial systems and ERPsStrong Financial Acumen and experience working in complex Accounting/Financial EnvironmentExperience with monthly close and journal entries Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environmentStrong interpersonal skills to interact with diverse work teamsExperience with Microsoft Office applications required (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Knowledge on how to run and execute a project plan (ERP integration, Automation technology)Ability to adapt easily to new procedures, policies, and systemsStrong working knowledge of financial systems and accounting fundamentalsStrong analytical and reconciliation skillsProvide support for cash forecastingAbility to manage in a high volume, fast paced changing environmentPreferred Education, Experience, & Skills Master’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or CPA/CMA CertifiedExperience with HFMExperience with Oracle ERP systemExperience with government accountingExperience in chemical manufacturing sectorDemonstrated experience performing accounting services as a defense/government contractor in a governmentally regulated and compliant organization, specifically DCAAExperience with ERP System rolloutPrevious experience executing process improvements within the organizationExperience with dealing with auditors both internal and external
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range:
$81336 – $138271Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
