Responsibilities The Payroll Accountant posts each processed payroll to the General Ledger, ensuring the financial records are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Responsibilities include but are not limited to being the subject matter expert with payroll software and review of payroll G/L accounts ensuring accuracy, financial compliance, general ledger accountability, and financial reporting. The Payroll Accountant works independently with an Accounting Manager oversight. Run reports from Paycom to post all processed payrolls timely and accurately.
Reconcile each payroll file to cash requirements and check register files.
Research and resolve any variances that may have appeared while posting payroll.
Post each payroll to General Ledger via Intacct.
Reconcile the accrued payroll G/L account after each payroll.
Work closely with Payroll to review outstanding items and ensuring resolution in a timely manner.
Hold bi-weekly meetings with Payroll to review and resolve any issues. Provide guidance to payroll to assist in resolution.
Once all processed payrolls have been entered in the General Ledger, review expense accounts for reasonableness.
Assist with set-up of any new paycodes with Payroll, understanding of the use of the codes and ensuring the coding is appropriate in Paycom and the GL.
Ensures that all month-end close deadlines are met, and all entries are prepared and booked accurately and timely.
Prepare and post PTO accrual, analyze fluctuations and reconcile to the GL.
Reconcile and post accrued bonus’ timely and accurately to the G/L.
Prepare and post 401K match, analyze fluctuations and reconcile to the G/L.
Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations as assigned.
Work with FP&A to gain access and understanding of payroll analysis and metric tools.
Work with management to develop processes to use payroll analytics to ensure accuracy of expenses.
Maintains accurate accounting of business transactions of the organization, by applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Assist with management of audit by preparing, compiling, and reviewing documentation for the auditors and corresponding with the auditors to provide requested information.
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
Assists with special projects, as assigned.
Responsible for learning the aspects of compliance in the company by completing all mandatory compliance training.

Experience Requirements and Preferences:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field
AND Experience:
Minimum of 2 years related experience
Advanced Excel skills, including vlookups and pivot tables required
Paycom experience is a plus
Experience in a fast-paced working environment
