LEAD:
The Senior Manager of Client Accounting serves as a key and exciting role within Universal Music Publishing Group’s greater Client Services team. Reporting to the Senior Director, North America Client Services, the Senior Manager role encompasses ownership of team management, participation accounting, payment distributions, financial reconciliation of accounting and publishing systems, and ad hoc account analysis for clients and contract partners in the U.S. and Canada. Management effectiveness, a strong accounting background, data skills, masterful communication, and a drive towards the future are keys to success. How You’ll Create Own the reconciliation process between UMPG’s publishing and finance systems, ensuring timely and accurate accounting to Universal contract partners and clients. Calculate financial royalty adjustments as required for quarterly accounting and ad hoc projects as needed. Manage the preparation and dissemination of third-party participation statements. Own the preparation and execution of quarterly payment distributions while remaining compliant with contractual deadlines and audit compliance. Actively engage with internal UMPG teams to ensure strong collaboration and relationship building across the business. Bring a fresh perspective, seeking to deconstruct and rebuild processes to create efficiencies and improvements. Exercise leadership experience while mentoring, coaching, and providing support to the team, seeking to maintain and elevate a world class publishing administration operation. Contribute to the building of new system tools and the implementation of new technologies within UMPG’s Administration Team, partnering with teams cross divisionally and around the world. Execute ad hoc projects and delegated tasks as needed. Bring Your Vibe 5+ years of royalty accounting experience. Experience with SAP systems or comparable accounting software. Proven experience adhering to deadlines on a recurring schedule while navigating competing priorities. Experience with people management. Preferred candidate will have experience with task management software. Capable of learning quickly how to perform research and analysis of client issues and questions to provide useful information and insight. Open-minded, flexible, and cooperative with the ability to prioritize so that client needs are met consistently. Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and text editors required. Comfortable numerically, with financial calculations and analysis, including royalty calculations. Ability to work in a bespoke systems landscape. Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships internally and externally. 4-year degree in Business, Accounting, or Music Business strongly preferred.
