Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Accounts Payable department, working closely with the internal team, and managing relationships with new and existing vendors (including international vendors). This individual will also help optimize processes within the department. We are looking for someone who is organized, detail oriented, and has excellent communication skills. Accounts payable experience in a retail environment with inventory transactions is a plus. Responsibilities – Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable department. Collaborate with teams to prepare and process payment runs ensuring payments are made with agreed-upon terms. Optimize and streamline the Accounts Payable processes to take advantage of technology. Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records including vendor information, payment terms, invoice documentation, and compliance documents (W-9, 1099 and applicable insurance) Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues promptly. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve invoices and payment related inquiries or disputes. Support the Accounting staff in preparation of monthly financials, accruals, filing sales tax returns, 1099’s, and account reconciliations. Assist the Controller as needed. Qualifications and skills – Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is preferred. 5-7 years Accounts Payable specific experience Strong attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to reconcile complex financial data. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Proficient in basic PCs including MS Office and MS Excel in particular. Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
