POSITION OUTLINE
Under the supervision of the Risk & Safety Manager, Internal Auditor is responsible for protecting the integrity, security, and operational compliance of Goodwill’s business functions through detailed audits, inspections, and analysis. This role identifies trends, supports data-driven decision-making, and collaborates with leadership to enhance efficiency, accountability, and alignment with organizational policies. The Coordinator contributes to Goodwill’s mission by ensuring adherence to safety standards, financial protocols, and operational excellence, while upholding Goodwill’s Core Values and Guiding Principles in all activities.
Essential Functions:
Ensures open, honest, and safety-conscious communication that prioritizes the well-being of team members, donors, and customers. Promotes and upholds Goodwill’s drug-free workplace policies and maintains a positive, values-driven work environment. Maintains a clear understanding and enforcement of Goodwill’s zero tolerance for harassment, workplace violence, theft, and failure to report medical incidents. Conducts regular, unannounced audits of departments such as Operations, Safety, DOT, Petty Cash, Wage & Hour Compliance, and Salvage, documenting findings and sharing results with leadership. Prepares departments for audits by generating key reports and ensuring availability of accurate operational data. Reviews Point of Sale (POS), WESA, Cashier, and Over/Short exception reports to identify loss exposure and escalate to the appropriate department or Loss Prevention. Partners with department leaders to resolve inefficiencies discovered through audits and inspections and supports corrective action planning. Performs monthly audits of high-risk departments including Salvage, Marketing, Support, Benefits, Foundation, and Purchasing to ensure purchasing protocol compliance. Produces written reports summarizing audit results, exception trends, and control opportunities to influence operational improvements. Analyzes audit patterns and collaborates with senior leadership to develop strategies that increase compliance and performance. Supports continuous improvement by conducting annual audit effectiveness reviews with department leadership. Creates and manages auditing templates in the NetTrack system and ensures that audit scores are accurately reflected in key performance reporting. Partners with various departments to ensure that audit action items are addressed and closed in a timely manner. Participates in store huddles and meetings to evaluate training delivery and reinforce safety, wellness, loss prevention, and operational excellence initiatives. Provides in-field coaching and training on audit procedures, including MDS training and LDP1 audit review for new leaders. Maintains strict confidentiality when handling sensitive financial, payroll, and personnel information. Completes assigned projects related to tracking, auditing, documentation, and operational optimization, as directed. Participates in organizational training sessions and completes mandatory courses as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned by leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree in accounting, auditing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience required. Minimum of five (5) years of experience evaluating retail sales transaction processes. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in information services technical support. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in technical training. Knowledge of cash handling procedures, audit processes, and quality assurance standards with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Point of Sale (POS) system operations and familiarity with WESA information systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively across teams. Demonstrated skills in listening, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning. Ability to maintain accurate records and manage efficient documentation systems. Proven ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess a valid driver’s license, current insurance coverage, and a reliable privately owned vehicle to travel within Goodwill’s territory for store and site visits. This position is classified as safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of drug testing. This role may require access to facility keys and alarm systems. Must be able to bend, reach, and stand for extended periods, and lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Must be able to perform repetitive tasks such as tagging or hanging clothing; manual dexterity is required.
