Weatherization Energy Auditor DeSoto Parish Police Jury 404 Polk Street, Mansfield, LA 71052

Description:

Responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the Weatherization programs to included job estimation, pre- and post-assessment of weatherization dwellings, preparing work orders and ordering materials for crews and sub-contractors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLES

• Identify homes to be weatherized. Inspect client’s home to determine if it meets weatherization eligibility through appropriate documentation and diagnostic testing.
• Performs energy audits and recommends weatherization measures. Checks, detects, and assesses infiltration leakages.
• Inspect and measures for insulation, air infiltration and minor repairs.
• Communicate and educate clients regarding energy consumption and conservation. Makes appropriate referrals for other services and resources, when necessary.
• Ensure the proper use and maintenance of assigned program vehicles, tools, and equipment
• This position requires in-state travel up to 90% of the time and overnight at various times.
• Attend required work-related training as needed and required by the State Agency.
• Perform combustion analysis testing on appliances.
• QCI Auditor must verify the unit was completed with the required standards.
• Performs diagnostic testing to ensure the home is safe for the client.
• Finalizes all documentation with the client and prepares the client file for final close out by the WAP Coordinator.
• Follows meticulous checklist, ensuring the entire unit is completed and is eligible for Department of Energy reimbursement to our agency.
• Employees may perform other related duties as assigned by their supervisor.
• Works under the direct supervision of the Weatherization Coordinator and the Executive Director.
• And any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
• Six months to one year carpentry, building related trade skills; weatherization and energy conservation techniques.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License & safe driving record
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; prepare required records and reports; establish working relationships with clients of varied backgrounds; maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used; operate cameras, camcorders and other job related apparatus; must operate motor vehicles assigned safely and efficiently and have and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

• Must have the ability to train contractors and crews in proper weatherization methodology.
• Must be able to use weatherization tools and equipment such as blower door, manometer, gas tester, CO tester etc.
• BPI Certified and Quality Control Inspector (QCI) certification required.
• Must be physically able to lift equipment and tools for the job and climb ladders.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and distance vision.
