Job Description

Business/Operational Audit (State Street Bank and Trust Company; Boston, MA): Lead audit engagements and oversee the supporting project team(s). Help define and carry out the audit project strategy. Oversee and execute risk and control assessments and corresponding testing and analysis. Interpret and report on audit results to business lines and senior management.

Specific duties include:

Working with business auditors to understand risks and related controls in the Global Markets and technology areas, including automated controls such as input, processing and output controls embedded within business applications, utilizing efficient and effective assessment methodologies including data analytics and scenario testing; Performing assigned work on multiple audits or special projects, and consulting as a subject matter expert, using the Division’ audit methodology to evaluate risk, determine control objectives, and verify the extent to which control techniques meet objectives; Providing consultation to Corporate Audit Division staff on information technology and data analytics matters; Executing technical portions of reviews and supporting the audit staff in technical skills; Identifying and assessing the risks and associated mitigating controls with an aim to improve the control environment; Devising effective, risk-based and efficient tests of key controls(application controls subject to testing may include electronic authorizations, application parameters, settings or scripts, as well as application access to sensitive application transactions and system interfaces); Planning and executing audits according to a risk-based methodology, recommending internal control improvements that may include operational enhancements or efficiencies, and prepare audit reports that effectively measure the residual risk in scope of the review; Analyzing data, facts, and test results to draw appropriate conclusions regarding the effectiveness of the clients internal control environment; Facilitating effective communication and coordination with business management at all levels; Developing a thorough understanding and knowledge base of the company’s operations, establish and maintain strong and effective client relationships within the business and supporting IT organizations and assist management in the understanding and adaptation of internal control principles; Meaningfully contribute to change initiatives by participation in system and business process change initiatives with strategic corporate significance by providing input on operational and technological risk issues; Evidencing strong team leadership skills which include creating an environment of trust, soliciting diverse views from team members and supervising, coaching and developing staff through timely meaningful feedback and on the job mentoring through the project lifecycle; Investing in personal development by expanding, maintaining and applying current knowledge of audit industry best practices, regulatory expectations, and subject matter (ex. Foreign exchange, securities lending and other capital markets and broader State Street activities); and Demonstrating knowledge of financial and operational internal control methodologies and terminologies (e.g. COSO and COBIT); process and control industry standards; risk management practices and techniques; and internal audit process, technology and tools for planning, design, performance, testing, and reporting. Telecommuting permitted pursuant to Company policy.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, in Finance, Accounting or a related field; plus 5 years of experience with assessment and testing of business and application controls and IT general controls. Alternatively, the Employer will accept a Master’s degree, or its equivalent, in Finance, Accounting or a related field; plus 3 years of experience with assessment and testing of business and application controls and IT general controls.

Must have:

Demonstrated experience in internal audit; Demonstrated experience in operational processes and technology, automated business process controls or technical application background; Proven knowledge of Capital Markets including foreign exchange, currency hedging, and operations; Experience in using data analytics and dashboarding software, e.g., PowerBI; Experience in developing multi-year audit plan and performing Business, financial, IT and Cybersecurity risk assessments; Demonstrated knowledge of financial and operational internal control methodologies and terminologies (e.g. COSO and COBIT); Experience producing high quality audit reports to communicate core audit issues; Experience assessing and advising management on improvements to multijurisdictional regulations; Experience valuating, reviewing and reporting on effectiveness of multijurisdictional regulatory and compliance programs; Demonstrated experience in operational processes and technology, automated business process controls and technical application background; Demonstrated experience in assessment of cloud-based data security; Demonstrated experience with relevant regulatory guidance and control best practices including COBIT, SOX, and NIST; and Demonstrated experience with financial / trading systems. LI-DNI Salary Range:

$117 645 – $200 000 Annual The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
