The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi’s at-risk children and families. If you have any additional questions, you can contact Touya Harrington of Workforce Development at 601-301-8494 or touya.johnson@mdcps.ms.gov About the Position Conduct on-site visits and desk audits of subrecipients, assessing systems and processes for compliance with applicable State and Federal laws. Prepare audit and site visit reports, recommend corrective action, and follow up to ensure corrective actions have been implemented. Lead collection, tracking, and analysis of subrecipient A-133 audit reports. Monitor or evaluate the subgrantees to ensure accountability and compliance with applicable State and Federal laws and improve outcomes, ensure subgrantee funds are used for the purposes for which they are awarded, to safeguard public monies to the greatest extent possible, and to provide guidance to subgrantees in establishing & maintaining sound business accounting procedures. Audit Team Lead Office of Monitoring Duties Plan, directs, coordinates, and supervises the activities of the monitoring staff providing technical assistance. Supervises preparation of reports for the monitoring staff. Review work product prepared by the monitoring staff to ensure accuracy of application of monitoring principles and conformity with agency polices. Conduct risk assessments of potential subrecipients and recommend risk-mitigating provisions for subawards when necessary. Communicate with the Accounting and Finance Unit, Procurement Unit, and Program Units on subaward monitoring/compliance concerns and/or issues; recommend actions necessary to resolve concerns. Also performs regular monitoring duties listed above. What you’ll need to be Successful Strong background and experience with audit methodologies and techniques. Prior success conducting Subrecipient Monitoring reviews. Ability to build relationships while asking tough questions. Efficient organizational and time management skills. Good oral and written communication skills. Positive work morale. Ability to be flexible in thinking and problem-solving. Realistic expectations about the difficulty and challenges of the work. Ability to handle an often-unpredictable work environment. Preferred Qualifications Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and 4-6 years of experience.
