Divisional Auditor Salvation Army of the Carolinas – 3.8 Charlotte, NC Job Details $60,000 – $62,000 a year 11 hours ago Qualifications Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Financial auditing Accounting software Mid-level Windows 3 years Driver’s License Bachelor’s degree Microsoft Dynamics GP Accounting 10 key typing Full Job Description Conducts internal audits of local units throughout the Division as assigned to ensure all divisions, corps, institutions, etc. are operating in compliance with Salvation Army policies and procedures. Reviews and inspects financial reports and records to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with rules and regulations governing the same; traces income to cash book and bank statements and reviews and analyzes receipts; reviews and analyzes disbursements and traces checks to cash books; reviews questionable items and problems areas with appropriate personnel; determines if and where fraud exists. Interprets Salvation Army Minutes, Accounting Policies, Human Resources Policies, Internal Revenue Service Regulations, Immigration & Naturalization Regulations, and other polices to determine shortcomings in the accounting, operations, and reporting procedures of the program being audited; identifies when ledgers are being poorly maintained, disorganized and/or out-of-balance. Reviews I-9s, payroll timesheets, and compares the same to payroll reports; prepares and researches various financial and statistical statements and ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Reviews personnel files in order to determine employees are approved by the DFB. Verifies information and data of financial reports and investigates any discrepancies or lack of information; summarizes comments, notes, and findings and prepares detailed, accurate, and complete reports. Analyzes fiscal management and summaries findings; determines and recommends solutions to improve the current problematic accounting situations; determines the weak spots in internal control of accounting, banking, expenditures, receipting, sales, etc. Reviews audit findings with the Officer in Charge, the Divisional Internal Audit Director, and the Divisional Secretary for Business and informs them of any mishandling, misrepresentation or misappropriation of funds, statistics, or general data discovered through internal audits.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares “Pro-Forma” IRS 990 Tax Returns (for informational use only) for units where Independent Audits are not conducted. Records notes of conversations (via Telephone, texting, email, and face to face) affecting audits or departmental business for circulation and file for reference. Prepares Graphical Analyses when needed. Reviews and analyzes Corps budgets as requested. Attends and participates in Accounting Conferences. Performs special projects as requested. Performs other related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or a related field, and three years experience performing accounting, bookkeeping or auditing work, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Valid State Driver’s License.
