POSITION SUMMARY
The Catholic Diocese of Charlotte is seeking an Internal Auditor within the Finance Office. This role serves parishes, schools, and other diocesan agencies with established diocesan financial policies, procedures, and practices, through routine audits, preparation of detailed reports on findings, and providing appropriate recommendations and support to the entities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit the accounting and financial practices and records of diocesan parishes, offices, schools and agencies to ensure compliance with diocesan policy. Maintain clear and concise documentation of audit processes, findings, and recommendations Communicate findings with the Director of Internal Audit & parish staff. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with clergy and staff across all levels of the organization. Provide guidance and support as needed to the parish staff.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as liaison between parishes, missions, and schools with federal and state taxing authorities. Serve as a liaison with parish, mission, and school banks, credit card vendor, and accounting software system. Maintain a database of parish, mission, and school financial information, including semi-annual report tracking. Assist with other audit assignments as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or another related field CPA preferred Experience Three years’ experience in accounting or auditing Public accounting experience preferred Skills Thorough knowledge of accounting, auditing, and reporting procedures Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently in an effective and efficient manner High attention to detail and strong organizational and critical thinking skills Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) Ability to maintain confidentiality.
