Full Job Description Overview:
Kimley-Horn seeks an experienced Internal Audit Manager to establish and lead our internal audit function. The Internal Audit Manager will be responsible for developing and executing an internal audit program that focuses on financial controls, operational matters, and other ad hoc projects as directed by the Financial Controls Committee. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong background in auditing, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to influence and collaborate with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Program Development and Management:
Develop and implement a thorough and efficient internal audit program that evaluates the effectiveness of financial controls and operational processes. Schedule and prioritize audit assignments based on risk assessments and business needs.
Audit Execution:
Conduct detailed audits of financial and operational processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Identify control gaps and areas for improvement, providing actionable recommendations to enhance processes and controls. Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management and the Financial Controls Committee. Assess the cost/benefit analysis of proposed improvements, ensuring enhancements add value and align with the company’s strategic objectives without imposing unnecessary costs.
Ad Hoc Projects:
Lead and participate in special projects and investigations as directed by the Financial Controls Committee. Provide expert advice and assistance on internal control matters and risk management initiatives.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare and present clear and concise audit reports, highlighting key findings, risks, and recommendations. Maintain effective communication with stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding of audit objectives and outcomes. Develop and maintain up-to-date process flowcharts, detailing process descriptions, risks, financial statement assertions, and key controls.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in internal auditing. Continuously improve audit methodologies and tools to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the audit function.
Qualifications:
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or related professional certification is preferred.
Experience :
Minimum of 5-7 years of auditing experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role. Experience in a privately held company is a plus.
Skills :
Strong knowledge of internal audit standards, financial controls, and risk management practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with various stakeholders, including senior management, the Financial Controls Committee and external auditors.
