Description of Work •This Role Is Eligible To Be Hybrid And Has Onsite Reporting Located Within Raleigh, NC •We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Internal Auditor to join our team. This role operates under limited supervision, leveraging expertise in auditing and quality assurance to enhance our internal processes and ensure compliance with Global Internal Audit Standards. The position is responsible for leading quality assurance initiatives, managing internal audit engagements, and fostering continuous improvement within the Office of Internal Audit (OIA).

Key Responsibilities Include:

Lead periodic self-assessments of the internal audit function to ensure compliance with Global Internal Audit Standards and identify areas for improvement.
Develop policies, procedures, and templates to guide audit staff in executing audit, advisory, investigative, and follow-up engagements.
Train and provide guidance to internal audit staff on policies, audit standards, and best practices to promote high-quality audit work.
Maintain and report Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics for internal and external reporting to track audit performance and effectiveness.
Serve as a system administrator for OIA’s audit management system, Auditor Assistant, ensuring efficient system operation and user support.
Plan and execute internal audit engagements, including risk assessment, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up, while leading an audit engagement team.
Conduct interviews and document client processes and procedures to evaluate internal controls and operational efficiency.
Identify root causes of issues and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and enhance departmental operations.
Prepare and deliver clear, well-documented audit reports and presentations, effectively communicating findings and recommendations to senior management and stakeholders.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and process improvement by pursuing relevant training and staying current on internal audit trends and best practices. The Office of the Internal Auditor (OIA) performs independent assessments and audits concerning operational, compliance, financial, and legal risks to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). OIA provides a variety of assurance and consulting services to help the Department improve the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and its risk management, control, and governance processes. Management Preferences:
