Duties Description Duties include but are not limited to: The Auditor 3 will oversee a team of auditors performing audits of grants and scholarships received by our customers. This position will require travel through NY State and New York City. In addition, the Auditor 3 will perform the following duties: 1. Ensure the team objectively performs the audits in accordance with the Global Internal Auditing Standards, the U.S. Government Accountability Office’s Government Auditing Standards, and/or any other related industry standards. 2. Plan and perform external audits that ensure our customers are complying with relevant laws, statutes, agreements, and procedures established by the Department of Education and Higher Education Services Corporation. 3. Oversee, manage multiple audits performed by the External Audit team and guide the team to identify issues, root causes, and develop SMART recommendations 4. Review audit workpapers uploaded to Teammate to ensure completeness and conformance to applicable standards 5. Monitor audits to ensure they are within the allowable budgets. 6. Facilitate communication of audit findings through reports that are clear, concise, and factually correct. 7. Guide the audit team in conducting risk assessments and evaluating internal controls 8. Foster an environment to build and nurture key management and business relationships. 9. Demonstrate the ability to make decisions regarding the audit steps necessary to complete an audit and effectively communicate audit issues to the Director routinely. 10. Perform a full scope of managerial and supervising duties, directly supervising at least one Auditor 2 and managing at least one Auditor 1. 11. Provide guidance, training and professional development opportunities to enhance the audit team’s skill and ensure consistent performance. 12. Perform any other audit related duties as assigned. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title OR Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section (i.e. 70.1, 70.4, 52.6) of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades. Additional comments regarding the vacancy.

HESC’s business hours require working between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Higher Education Services Corporation employees may be approved for a maximum of 50% telecommuting; however, they are required to apply and obtain approval through management in accordance with Higher Education Services Corporation Telecommuting Program Guidelines.
