Position Summary:

The internal Audit Coordinator will assist with the planning and execution of internal audits, contributing to the overall effectiveness of Cornerstone Community FCU’s audit functions. The role will involve assisting with the preparation of audit programs, collecting evidence, summarizing findings and helping to ensure CCFCU’s processes and controls are functioning as intended, complying with all applicable regulatory requirements. Essential Duties and Responsibility Will act as liaison between NCUA examiners and CPA auditors to ensure completion of approved recommendations initiated by external auditors and NCUA examiners. Will submit oral/written reports to the Supervisory Committee, CEO and President during and at the conclusion of the examinations, reviewing deficiencies and recommended corrective actions. Assists the Supervisory Committee in the performance of its fiduciary responsibility to the membership. Maintains open communication with the Supervisory Committee, CEO and President and keeps them abreast of audit activities and results. Gather and analyze data, conduct interviews and document findings. Coordinates the credit union’s audit function to ensure compliance with all regulatory policies and procedures and to safeguard the credit union’s assets, i.e., risk-based audit plans. Identifies, obtains, and analyzes updated information on laws and regulations that may impact any and all areas of credit union policy, procedure, and operations. Assists with communications to staff and managers, in written or verbal form, regarding credit union policies, procedures and operations. Tracks implementation of audit recommendations and follow up on corrective actions. Monitor the effectiveness of implemented controls and processes. Prepares written reports on internal audit reviews, including findings, analyses, conclusions, and recommended actions. Ensures audit findings are appropriately resolved and reports such resolution to the Supervisory Committee and Management. Coordinates investigations of suspected and/or actual internal fraud. Makes recommendations to revise electronic systems and procedures to comply with State and Federal regulations. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publication; establishing personal networks. Any other duties assigned by management. This position is deemed an essential position and must follow the essential employee requirements. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must maintain an above average knowledge of NCUA Rules and Regulations. The ability to work independently and under pressure. Flexible hours may be necessary. Above average problem-solving abilities. Deep understanding of how a credit union functions, and the value it brings to its members and community. This includes understanding of what a Cooperative is, as that is the business models of all credit unions. Excellent communication and writing skills. Must be able to communicate effectively and generate grammatically correct reports, letters, memorandums, etc. Employee must have the ability to independently organize, schedule appointments and make judgments relating to assigned projects and responsibilities. Employee must maintain a professional and cooperative attitude with other employees and help to maintain the friendliest atmosphere possible in the credit union office. Must strive to render the best possible service to all the membership. Employee will follow any instructions, and perform other related duties, as may be required by management. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature.

Employees are required to maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive Cornerstone CFCU, member, employee, and proprietary information both during and after their employment. If an employee has a question about the confidentiality of a particular matter, they should consult with their Manager/Supervisor or Human Resources. Any violation of this rule may subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required, Associate Degree preferred. Relevant certifications are a plus. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in credit union or financial institution. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel. Bondable upon initial employment and continue to be bondable throughout term of employment.

Physical Requirements:

The functions of the position usually performed sitting but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, typewriter, calculator, cutting, labeling and taping involve extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.
